Lightning, a new mobile application for field responders, was introduced to the market in 2023 and delivers 911 data directly from a RapidDeploy Radius Mapping-enabled call center to field responders’ devices. Lightning was created to extend Next Generation 911 (NG911) to the field, equipping field responders with actionable information to reduce response times, drive better outcomes, and improve responder safety.
Powered by RapidDeploy’s Radius Mapping platform, Lightning provides all responders with a common operating picture of location accuracy, situational awareness, and call/incident details, empowering teams to make informed decisions through greater communication, efficient coordination, and more effective response throughout the unified 911 workflow.
FirstNet – America’s public safety communications platform – features the first-ever App Catalog geared for first responders, featuring more than 220 apps relevant to public safety’s mission. This gives FirstNet subscribers a dedicated location to find meaningful new solutions that have been specifically reviewed for use with FirstNet services. Before any mobile solution can be added to the FirstNet App Catalog, it must pass stringent third-party tests for security, relevancy, data privacy, and more.
